Why I Love that Lisa from Bodyrock Had Her Breast Implants Removed

Fitness has become an important part of my life over the past couple of years. I feel healthier, I sleep better, and I have greater sense of wellbeing since embarking on this journey.

Similar to breast augmentation, one of the best parts about the women's fitness community is the abundance of courageous women. And over the past year, I've really enjoyed following Lisa from Bodyrock.tv.

She is an incredible fitness inspiration (and I've seen many women pick her as their Boobie Guide.) Unfortunately, after her augmentation, Lisa discovered that breast implants wouldn’t be compatible with her current lifestyle...

Because breast implants simply aren't for everyone.

First I just want to say that she has been an open book regarding her augmentations and her struggles. It takes guts to openly talk about something so personal.

Kudos, girl!

After Lisa got her first augmentation, she started having complications due to the types of intense exercise she was committed to performing—and if you've ever seen any of her videos, you know how committed she really is!

Her first surgeon advised her to get a revision, so she decreased her implant size but was still experiencing the same complications. Lisa then got a second opinion, and that surgeon advised her to take them out—so she did. And now she’s able to give 110% to her craft and passion.

During her journey, Lisa said she realized that not having an augmentation was a better fit for her lifestyle. Sometimes us women can get really caught up in what we think we want, but not always stop to think if it will mesh with our life. And I certainly agree with her when she says...

It's always wise to get a second opinion if you don’t feel like something is right.

Before getting an augmentation, take a step back and ask yourself these questions:

  • Will breast implants get in the way of how you live your life?

  • Are you willing to accept that you might have complications?

  • Are you still going to love your body if you have to get them removed?

BodyRock Lisa bounced back with a vengeance. She is healthier than ever, and is happy not to have breast implants. Personally, I think the best part of this story is the fact that she loves herself just as much, with or without breast implants. I think we can all learn something valuable from her!
