I'll always cherish the year that my grandmother took me to Paris, especially since I’d always wanted to see the famous da Vinci painting everyone talks about. You know, the one of the woman with the wry smile and wistful eyes? After a couple hours of walking around the Louvre and marveling at dozens of masterpieces, I turned a corner to see a crowd of people gathered around one painting.
There she was.
The Mona Lisa. Up close and in person. While I was surprised about how small the world’s most famous painting was, I loved it nevertheless.
But you know what? Most of the time the Mona Lisa is displayed, it's actually a replica... a knockoff. When I found out about this, I couldn't help but think, "All that hype over a fake, and no one even knew!"
Well, that's how I feel about Bio Oil.
Before We Go Any Further
Ok, I realize that I've already stepped out onto thin ice here... A lot of women out there swear by Bio Oil, and I have personally used it as well. But it's time to get honest with ourselves when the number one scar and stretchmark cream get this kind of rating from EWG:
I used Bio Oil for months after my breast reduction surgery and ended up with some of the worst scars that I've seen from a breast reduction. I've also heard countless women report that Bio Oil didn't help prevent stretchmarks during pregnancy or after getting breast implants. :-(
And so I just want to say out loud that my goal here isn't to be insulting or to stir up trouble. My goal is the same as it always is...
To help you get the most beautiful results from your breast augmentation.
What’s in Bio Oil Anyway?
I think a great place to start is talking about what's actually inside Bio Oil, which contains about 27 total ingredients:
20 different chemicals
4 plant extracts
2 synthetic vitamins
Fragrance and Dye
The Good Ingredients in Bio Oil
There are a few ingredients in Bio Oil that I really like! Specifically, the plant extracts (highlighted in blue)...
Calendula Oil (calendula officinalis extract) – Calendula is wonderful. It stimulates the production of collagen and contains oil-soluble sterols which help plump the skin and keep it from thinning.
Lavender Oil (lavandula angustifolia oil) – Lavender is fantastic for your skin. Not only does it boost circulation, the increased blood flow ensures your skin cells get an abundant supply of oxygen and nutrition.
Rosemary Oil (rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil) – Rosemary oil smells really good, and has even been shown to be slightly anti-bacterial.
Chamomile Oil (anthemis nobilis flower oil) – As long as you aren't allergic to it, chamomile oil does a great job soothing the skin, but it often causes women to develop hay fever symptoms. :-(
The Harmful and Toxic Ingredients in Bio Oil
For me, Bio Oil is a lot like McDonalds... I want to love it so bad, but I've simply learned too much about how horrible it is for our bodies. Just because McDonalds has apples on their menu doesn't make everything else ok.
Bio Oil uses the following statement to describe their product, "The Bio‑Oil formulation is a combination of plant extracts and vitamins suspended in an oil base." Legally, this is true. However, it would be way more accurate to say that the plant extracts and vitamins are suspended in a base of toxic chemicals.
Let's take a look at some of the more dominate chemicals in Bio Oil (highlighted in blue)...
Mineral Oil (paraffinum liquidum) Oh how my grandmother would kill me for saying anything negative about mineral oil. She swore by it! But here's the deal, ladies... mineral oil is not a naturally occurring oil.
Mineral oil is a product of gasoline distillation from crude oil. It's also the main ingredient in Bio Oil. Gross.
Chemically-made ingredients like mineral oil not only clog our pores, they cause our skin to lose its natural ability to expel toxins—a critical function after breast surgery! Mineral oil also leads to increased acne, blackheads, and degenerative skin cell disorders. :-(
In fact, in the study "Evidence for Cosmetics as a Source of Mineral Oil Contamination in Women," researchers stated, “There is strong evidence that mineral oil hydrocarbons are the greatest contaminant of the human body."
Mineral oil presents a number of problems for the body and should be avoided, especially when trying to heal from surgery or while pregnant.
Maybe mineral oil was the best option fifty years ago, but come on! Today we have access to the most natural, healing ingredients on the planet! Why would we continue using a toxic film made from gasoline that is completely nutritionless and increasingly recognized as cancer-causing?
Next up... BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)
Honestly, I can't even believe that Bio Oil includes this in their product. Not only is BHT an endocrine disruptor, immunotoxic, and a skin, eye, and lung irritant...
BHT is classified as a neurotoxin for goodness sakes!
Some of you may recall many nail polish companies removing a chemical called "toluene" from fingernail polishes a few years back. Well BHT was it's replacement, and according to the National Library of Medicine HazMap, BHT is a "known immune system toxicant."
Traditionally, the United States lags far behind other developed nations in terms of protecting women from harmful chemicals in our skincare products. It's no different here. BHT is banned in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and much of Europe because it is believed to cause cancer.
More Harmful Ingredients in Bio Oil
Amyl Cinnamal – A known toxicant to the immune system that is a highly-allergenic fragrance.
Benzyl Salicylate – A fragrance additive banned for use in pregnant women.
Coumarin – Coumarin is also on the European Union's list of banned and restricted ingredients due to it's tendency to thin blood it's links to cancer.
Eugenol – A highly toxic denaturant that The National Library of Medicine HazMap also labels as a an immune system toxicant.
Geraniol – A known environmental toxin that is banned in several countries.
Hydroxycitronellal –A known immune system toxicant that is also banned or restricted in the European Union.
Ok, ok, that's enough. You get my point.
It's just not 1985 anymore, ladies... we live in a world where we're all learning about how harmful these chemically-based products are to ourselves and our families, and yet we often turn a blindeye.
Putting toxins on our body is simply not the best way to help ourselves heal, and it undermines our own health...
Especially when the results aren't even there to justify it.
A Non-Toxic Alternative to Bio Oil
For me, when the best selling scar and stretchmark cream doesn't deliver and receives a toxicity score of 8 out of 10, I knew I had to find a better solution.
Fortunately, I had been making my own cosmetics and cleaning supplies for years, so I knew I had the know-how to create a superior product to Bio Oil. For example, there are some incredible organically-sourced, non-toxins out there such as...
Wild Rose Hips Wild Rose Hips contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals including: B-carotene, retinol, lycopene, vitamin C, and the omega-3, -6, and -9 essential fatty acids.
The molecules in Rose Hip Oil are so small, they are able to work on a cellular level to rejuvenate our skin. This helps skin cell turnover to happen much faster, preventing scarring and stretchmarks!
Raw Beeswax The health benefits of beeswax are nearly too many to count. One really cool benefit of beeswax is that it's a natural emollient and humectant, which means that it locks moisture into your skin without clogging your pours.
In fact, Beeswax has an 'irritation potential rating' of zero! Beeswax is also very high in Vitamin A, which softens and rehydrates skin cells while accelerating cell reconstruction.
Jojoba Oil Densely concentrated with vitamin E, B-complex, copper, zinc, selenium, iodine, and chromium. The antioxidants and Linoleic Acid present in Jojoba Oil also aid in skin cell regeneration.
The high levels of ceramides in Jojoba Oil make it almost identical to your skin's natural oils, which will help your breasts level out oil production.
Raw Shea Butter Incredibly rich in oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linolenic acids, as well as vitamins A, E, and F, all of which make it one of the best moisturizers available anywhere. Shea Butter will also help to protect your skin's natural oils and aid in natural collagen production.
The Birth of Boobie Butter!
By combing these incredible ingredients with Calendula, Lavender, Arnica Montana, St. John's Wort, and Aloe Vera Gel, I knew that I had created one of the best anti-scarring, anti-stretchmark products in the world.
I lovingly called it "Boobie Butter" :-)
A Dab a Day Has Kept the Stretchmarks Away!
Let me tell you about how fast I get stretchmarks... Back when I was 18, I gained about 20 pounds during a single year and I got stretchmarks along the sides of my hips.
Yeah... I get them that easily.
Stretchmarks often form on women several months (or even years) after getting breast implants. I mean, just imagine all the stress that breast implants put on our skin... stretching, bouncing, sex, running, the extra weight, etc.
Not only has the use of my Boobie Butter prevented me from getting stretchmarks after I got 600cc breast implants, but I also used it on my belly each day during my pregnancy. And I didn't get a single stretchmark!
P.S. I wasn't just pregnant. I was pregggggggggnant!
But don't just take my word for it, check out what other ladies are saying...
"After being completely disappointed with Bio Oil, I found Jenny Eden's Boobie Butter and what a difference. I can visibly see the Boobie Butter fading my scars every day and I love the way it feels!" —Laura Beth
"I've had my breast implants for 3 years and could tell they were sagging. After trying Bio Oil, I honestly didn't think Boobie Butter would help. But after 2 months my breasts are noticeably perkier! Words can't describe. Thank you!" —Ashley A.
Before and After Photos
Boobie Butter not only prevents stretch marks, it fades them! These are photos submitted by women who used Boobie Butter on exists stretch marks…
Where to Get Boobie Butter
I used to feel really bad about telling women that I sold Boobie Butter. I never wanted anyone to think that I wanted something from them, when all I really wanted was to create something forus. But after hearing all the success stories, I'm excited for you to try it! :-)
It's not only superior to Bio Oil, but it's completely safe, non-toxic, organically-sourced, and handmade in small batches.

Thoughts from Dr. Jeremy PyleTo me, everything we use during surgery has to be more valuable that it is harmful. Seen in that light, Bio Oil is one of those things that just doesn't make sense to me. There are some great options for scar care that have good science behind them but since Bio Oil isn't one of them so I advise against it.
Instead, consider either plant based products or FDA approved scar gels like Biocorneum.
