Interview: Dr. David Levens (Coral Springs, FL)

Today I had the privilege of interviewing Dr. David Levens of South Florida Plastic Surgery in the warm Coral Springs, FL. He’s been practicing plastic surgery for 26 years and still loves what he does! I can’t wait for you to get to meet him!

Dr. Levens grew up in Long Island, NY raised by a family of teachers and engineers. He was lovingly encouraged to go into the medical field and to his amazement, he ended up loving his high school biology class where his teacher also encouraged him to go into medicine.

I love how much provision is seen in his upbringing!

He went into medical school not knowing what avenue he would take and was completely openhanded with his opportunities.

During medical school, Dr. Levens elected to do a rotation through plastic surgery where he connected well with his teacher and found plastic surgery to be exciting and inspiring. He loved being prepared to operate on any part of the body whether it’s injuries, birth defects or cosmetic, because people are happy and thankful on both sides of that spectrum.

It’s clear that Dr. Levens finds plastic surgery to be a very rewarding field of medicine to be in, because he enjoys being able to use his creativity to tackle complicated cases.

One thing that really stood out to me was his heart behind medical missions. He went to Ecuador with an independent group called Community Cares for Kids from 2006 through 2012! I tend to see people dip their toe into volunteer work but it just really impressed me that he went back for 6 years in a row and is planning another upcoming trip!

As you can imagine, breast augmentation is his most popular procedure performed at Dr. Levens’ office. He uses a program called touchMD that allows you to see what the procedure will entail and what your results will likely be. TouchMD is also cloud-based, so you are able to show your significant other all of the images as well. It’s such a valuable tool, and I love that Dr. Levens offers it. (And P.S., his consultations are free!)

Lastly, I asked Dr. Levens what advice he would give a woman who was considering a breast augmentation but was nervous. Dr. Levens assured me that he would never be pushy or make someone feel like they have to get breast implants, because he wants what is best for the patient and for them to be happy.

Dr. Levens believes it’s important to communicate the risks, benefits, and potential side affects. He also encourages the women to bring their spouse or significant other to their consultation for support.

Finally, Dr. Levens wants you to make sure this is a choice you’re making for yourself—and not for someone else. Getting a breast augmentation is a very personal decision, so make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons. 🙂

I love the way Dr. Levens thinks. If you live in the Coral Springs area, I would highly recommend checking him out at http://www.drlevens.com/. He’s a very down to earth and kind doctor!
